Seattle Bike Expo weekend is here!

I think I'll be down there tomorrow.

UPDATE 3-18-10: I was lame and totally missed the whole thing!!! A very long story, multiple things came up, and kept me from heading down to the Bike Expo.

excited for the upcoming Bike Expo in March

I checked out the vendor list for the Seattle Bike Expo today. I'm excited to check out the vendors' products.

Specifically, it will be cool to see Alchemy Goods' latest products and maybe check out what Baron is building. [My friend Rob has a disc-equipped Baron for a rain bike... what a nice-looking bike].

And I'll be able to figure out what the heck is a Zigo?

the premium placed on vintage

I noticed this phenomenon a while back too.

There's a coolness factor associated with vintage rides, perhaps it's the closest thing to a time machine for many of us who had similar bicycles in our youth - in my case, a red Schwinn Stingray. The feel-good cherry on top that comes with saving something from a landfill, plus avoiding buying something new - which took energy and natural resources to produce - may also explain the trend which has pushed up prices of older bicycles.

That's my take on it.
